Leaf Springs
The Proven Variant
Leaf springs have been meeting the highest demands in both industry and the leisure sector for decades. Many motorhomes, vans, and vehicles used for workshops and ambulances feature leaf-sprung rear axles. As a result, vehicle manufacturers often design standard springs to accommodate a wide range of weights. While this approach may be cost-effective for the manufacturer and adequate for some uses, it can create challenges for many users and industries.
Heavy bodies of motorhomes and ambulances, as well as the equipment in workshop vehicles, horse transporters, and other commercial applications, often lead to premature fatigue of the standard rear axle springs. This can have serious consequences for both occupants and cargo. Overstressed leaf springs can result in harsh impacts and poor driving characteristics, creating unpleasant and potentially dangerous driving experiences.
Our retrofittable leaf springs restore tension and spring force to the chassis of your motorhome, van, ambulance, or workshop vehicle. Made from high-quality steel with specially rolled spring ends, they enhance resistance to crosswinds, improve cornering stability, and make handling easier.
For vehicles equipped with heavy workshop facilities and equipment, additional leaf springs offer an efficient and cost-effective solution. By adding an extra layer, sagging spring packages can regain much of their original tension, significantly raising the rear of the vehicle.
With Goldschmitt’s spring systems, it’s also possible to increase the axle loads and permissible total weight of most motorhomes and van chassis. We’re happy to provide advice on this topic, either by phone or in person at our Zion Service center.
