If you have ever dreamt of discovering New Zealand’s breathtaking wilderness with all the comforts of home at your fingertips, the Dethleffs Globebus Performance 4×4 may just be your perfect travel companion. This all-new, all-wheel-drive motorhome comes fully equipped as standard and is engineered to push the boundaries of where a campervan can take you- whether that’s deep into Fiordland’s untamed trails or along the snowy roads to Tongariro National Park.
As motorhome travel continues to surge in popularity across Aotearoa, many Kiwi adventurers are seeking the ideal combination of comfort, reliability, and off-road capability. That’s where the Dethleffs 4×4 motorhome comes in—a bold new player in the New Zealand market for those who don’t just want to travel, but to experience the outdoors in a whole new way.
Let’s take a closer look at what makes the Globebus Performance 4×4 such an exciting and future-ready option among motorhomes for sale in NZ.
A New Era of Adventure: Dethleffs’ First Ever All-Wheel-Drive Motorhome
Debuting at the renowned Caravan Salon 2024 event in Düssledorf, the Dethleffs Globebus Performance 4×4 is the next chapter for one of Germany’s long-established leisure vehicle brands. Known for their craftsmanship and innovative designs since 1931, Dethleffs is embarking into their past while adding new-age off-road capabilities in a caravan that is compact, functional and still stylish.
The Dethleffs 4×4 is built on a low-profile body shape that combines agility with power – perfect for exploring New Zealand’s many different variable terrains. Road surfaces such as the gravel roads of the Coromandel and exclusive DOC campsites found on the west coast of New Zealand’s South Island are the natural home of this caravan. For each traveler that prefers this kind of journey, the Performance 4×4 will be a suitable camping partner.

Engineered for NZ’s Wild Terrain
All key features come standard, including a 163 hp (120 kW) engine, 8-speed automatic gearbox, raised chassis, reinforced front axle (2,100 kg rating), differential lock, and rear air suspension. These features work together to conquer everything from muddy backroads to mountain inclines.
With Hill Start Assist and Descent Control, you can travel with complete confidence even on the most demanding of slopes. This is more than just a campervan, it is a motor home made to adventure. The Dethleffs Globebus Performance 4×4 is a perfect vehicle for Kiwi explorers who prefer an all-terrain vehicle to match our rugged country.
Stay Connected Off-Grid with CamperNet G5
New Zealand natural beauty can be stunning; this can also include many remote places where mobile signal strength is poor. Whether you are remotely working, video-calling family, or watching a movie under the stars, it is easier to stay online with the Camper Net G5 router system and roof-mounted antenna.
With this powerful 5G solution included as standard, you will have reliable internet access to the internet whilst on the road, even in places where mobile reception is sporadic. The Camper Net G5 internet system is a real game-changer relaxing in a modern motorhome – but it is another reason why the Dethleffs 4×4 is leading the way in high-tech travelling vehicles.
Interior Comfort Meets German Design Excellence
Upon entering, you will find a warm, carefully thought out interior. It has a length of 685 cm, and width of 220 cm. The Globebus Performance 4×4 is small enough to be nimble, and spacious enough that you can travel for considerable time.
The 70 cm-wide habitation door with coupé entrance and extendable step makes access a breeze. Once inside, you’ll find:
- A half-dinette seating lounge with a 50 cm-wide swivel table for meals, games, or laptop work
- Sound-absorbent, breathable fabric wall panels that maintain a peaceful, cozy environment
- A modern kitchen with handleless drawers, smart shelving, and a fixed tap—ideal for preparing local delicacies on the road
- Two ultra-comfy single beds (2.02m x 0.8m and 1.92m x 0.75m), each featuring a 15 cm EvoPore mattress and slatted frame for premium sleep quality
Even on extended road trips across NZ, the Globebus 4×4 provides the comforts of home without compromise.

Energy Efficient and Tech-Packed for Freedom
When it comes to energy and utility, the Globebus Performance 4×4 doesn’t hold back. All of the following come standard:
- 1x 95 Ah AGM battery
- A set of six lithium-ion batteries (263 Ah capacity)
- A diesel heater for winter nights
- A 131-litre compressor fridge
Whether you are freedom camping in the South Island or parked at a scenic lakeside DOC site, you’ll have everything you need to stay warm, cook delicious meals, and live comfortably—off-grid or not.
Entertainment comes standard, with a 32″ smart TV on a telescopic mount and DiscoverPro radio navigation system with a 10” monitor, so you can keep the kids happy or relax with your favourite shows after a day of adventure.
Style Meets Substance: Dethleffs’ Signature Design
The Globebus Performance 4×4 is visually striking, and it has an aggressive presence that seems to suggest off-road capabilities. The LED headlights, daytime running lights, and aerodynamic design looks just as stunning at high speed on the highway as it does at slow speed in a mountain pass.
The AirCare Climatronic system allows for perfect interior temperatures in any season, while the electronic parking brake and Advanced Assistance Package (including intelligent speed, lane, and travel assist) make driving even more intuitive and safer than ever.
